Start Your Family Tree with Confidence

Getting started with genealogy can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’ve inherited a few names or you’re starting completely from scratch, the most important thing is to begin.

Family Tree Notebooks was created to help people like you take those first steps without needing to be an expert. You don’t need a fancy program, a perfectly filled-out chart, or even a lot of time. All you need is a system that helps you stay focused and feel successful right away.

The Tree Builder Toolkit (PDF) is a great place to start. It gives you the most important pages in standard PDF form to begin organizing what you know and gently build from there. It works whether you’re going digital, printing your research, or a little of both. Plus, this toolkit has guide books and guide videos so you can know exactly what to do. 

If you don't want to use a PDF editor to add text and photos to the PDF pages, you might want to try the Tree Builder Toolkit (Canva). The pages are the same but they're in Canva.com templates so you can just use the templates in your free Canva.com account and easily add text and photos that way. Canva is a newer option for Family Tree Notebooks but it's quickly becoming a user favorite because it's so easy to use.
