General
Should I buy PDF pages or Canva templates?
In my opinion, Canva templates are easier to use since you edit them on a website (Canva.com) instead of in a program on your computer. However, PDF pages can be used offline and may be more comfortable for some people. I recommend trying both by downloading the FTN sample pack before you make a decision.
How do I fill out the pages?
If you purchase Canva templates, you will fill them out using Canva.com (the free version works fine). If using the PDF pages, you will need a program to add text and photos as the pages are not fillable. There are many options out there, but I have tutorials for Goodnotes 5 and Adobe Acrobat.
What's the difference between the Essentials Pack, Tree Builder Toolkit, and The Complete Collection?
The pages and templates from Family Tree Notebooks are sold in three different levels. The lowest level is the Essentials Pack, which gives you plenty of page options to build a book. The mid-level is the Tree Builder Toolkit, which gives you more pages and offers access to the FTN Masterclass in case you need some help. The Complete Collection gives you access to the thousands of pages available in the FTN library. If you buy at one level and decide to upgrade, you can use an included coupon code to take your original purchase price off the upgrade.
When will the Masterclass open?
The live FTN Masterclass is not scheduled to open in 2026, but recordings of the Masterclass are available in the FTN Learning Library. Library membership is a one-time fee for lifetime access.
Can you recommend a printer, paper, scanner, etc.?

How will I get my products?
Everything in the Family Tree Notebooks shop is digital. You will receive a download link as soon as your purchase is complete and you can start enjoying your pages right away.

What if I didn't get my products?
Sometimes a type or other glitch will prevent delivery. If that happens, just drop me a note at carly@familytreenotebooks.com and I'll get your files to you.
Returns & Troubleshooting
How do I return an item?
Because everything in the store is digital, there's no way to "return" an item once you've purchased it. For this reason, the store does not accept returns.
What do I do if I accidentally bought something twice?
If you've accidentally made a duplicate purchase, reach out to me at carly@familytreenotebooks.com and we can swap it for another item.
My computer crashed and deleted all the files!
If you've made a purchase in the past but lost the files somehow, you can always reach out to me at carly@familytreenotebooks.com and I'll resend the items you purchased.
