I'm teaching a genealogy course!
Ok, for some of you this is old news. I announced the course in one of my Facebook Live videos a while back but never got around to giving you all the details here on the blog. So, for those of you that would rather read than watch (just like me!), here's what's going on with the course:
- The goal of the course is to teach you how to use Family Tree Notebooks pages to build genealogy notebooks and other books to help your research. Although some basic genealogy research information will be included, the focus of the course is using the pages NOT general genealogy.
- The course includes 10 lessons, published over the course of 2 weeks on a site called Teachable. The lessons are a combination of text, downloads, and pre-recorded video so there is no live content that you have to be available for. When you finish the course, you retain lifetime access to all the lessons so you can go back to them or take the course on your own time.
- You will also receive all of the pages we talk about in the course (more than 200 worksheets), a digital copy of the Family Tree Notebooks textbook, and access to a private Facebook group where you can interact with classmates.
- I'll be answering questions and uploading additional videos as needed inside the private Facebook group. Access to the group is not required (i.e. I'm not going to force you to have a Facebook account), but that's a pretty big benefit of being enrolled in the course and that content won't be delivered in any other way.
Now, I've never taught this course before so I'm experimenting with a beta group. I opened the beta group up last week and the course sold out in less than five hours, much to my surprise! I am taking names for a waitlist and I'll let those people know if I open another beta class or when the "real" class will be available. The beta group will likely get some extras that won't be in the final class because I'm trying out a lot of different things, but the beta group is also going to have a slightly less polished experience.
Pricing for the beta group is $200. When it's released, the more polished class will be $350. I'm anticipating that the $350 class will being in late Spring or early Summer.
If you would like to be on the waitlist for a possible beta group or for enrollment in the course after I've smoothed out the wrinkles, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll add you to the list.
Thank you all for your support! I'm really excited about this one!
